Woodsilk, Peace Silk, Organic Silk

As we all love butterflies we prefer to keep the silk worm alive. Silk is produced when an adult silk worm begins to spin a fibroin protein which they produce themselves. The strain of silk is woven into a tightly enclosed cocoon. Each cocoon can be formed from up to 100 meters of silk. Next, the silk worm provides a fluid which burns a hole thought the weave allowing it to emerge. Unfortunately this also damages and breaks the fibre. Instead, the farmer kills the silk worm by boiling it alive, saving the silk. Peace silk is vegan because it allows the silkworm to emerge out of the cocoon naturally. Fibres from the damaged cocoon are then spun together forming a silk which has the same luxurious feel as Organic silk, with a raw appearance.

Instead of Peace Silk, Woodsilk could be used, which is  extremely comfortable to wear. The fabric is made of trees, and is high in moisture content compared with synthetic fabrics, that are often worn on festive occasions. This means that wood silk causes less unpleasant static electricity and is gentle to your skin. Pieces made from woodsilk have an elegant silhouette because the fabric is very light. Because the fabric dries super fast the dryness is always maintained when wearing this fabric to your skin. Therefore wearing items made of wood silk give you a fresh and comfortable feeling.

Lastly also Organic Silk could be used instead of the original silk. Organic silk is created without the use of any chemicals or treatments using insecticides, pesticides or synthetic additives (often used by some silk suppliers to provide additional softness to their silk fabrics). It is a highly sustainable crop with cocoons being produced when the silkworms are about 35 days old. Organic Silk is grown in 22 countries all over the world.Untreated, organic silk is not only the highest quality silk you’ll ever wear, it’s also believed to have healing, anti-inflammatory benefits, making it ideal for sensitive skin. This is because silk is naturally hypoallergenic, and is resistant to dust mites and mold. Silk also is a breathable and thermal fiber that helps balance body temperature.
